The left ear can sound different then the right, if a person pays attention they can sense which direction the communication is coming from. They can sense the left ear, the right ear, a space on the upper right corner, right directly above the mind space centered at the top and outside of the head all together.

This issue deals with vibration, magnetism, energy and frequency which is the reason the practice of using crystals/gems and what not is mentioned in the scriptures and practiced by people into Spiritualism however I don’t believe they are using this the right way at all.
